
MTEN Announces Fall Slate

FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU men's tennis team announced its fall slate on Monday afternoon, as the Horned Frogs are scheduled to appear in numerous prestigious tournaments throughout the fall as well as ATP Challenger and USTA Futures events.
The first event lined up for the team is the first-ever Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational from Sept. 16-18. The tournament draws eight nationally ranked men's and women's teams to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island to compete in flighted singles and doubles round-robin for ITA Ranking Points. Defending national champion Virginia, along with top-25 finisher Michigan and Princeton will be on hand to take on the Frogs.
To wrap-up September, part of the team will head to the Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco, Calif., from Sept. 22-25 at Cal Club located inside the University of San Francisco. The team will start off October with the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships from Oct. 1-9 in Tulsa, Okla. The month will then close out with TCU hosting the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center from Oct. 21-24.
While most of the team will be competing in ITA events throughout the fall, select players will be competing in ATP Challenger and USTA Futures events. Cameron Norrie, who won three ITF Pro Circuit Events in the last year and made the finals of an ATP Challenger, is set to compete in eight pro events throughout the fall. In September, Norrie will head to the Cary Tennis Championships (Sept. 12-18), the 2016 Columbus Challenger (Sept. 19-25) and the Tiburon Challenger (Sept. 26-Oct. 2).
The month of October brings three more events for Norrie as he is set for the Sacramento Challenger (Oct. 3-9), the Fairfield Challenger (Oct. 10-16) and the Charlottesville Challenger (Oct. 31-Nov. 6). Guillermo Nuñez and Jerry Lopez will also see action in USTA Futures events in Houston (Oct. 8-16) and in Harlingen, Texas (Oct. 15-23). Nuñez is also scheduled to appear is the Player's Choice Open, a USTA Futures event, in Birmingham, Ala from Oct. 29-Nov. 6.
Norrie will wrap-up his fall season with two events in November with the Knoxville Challenger from Nov. 7-13, followed by the Champaign Challenger from Nov. 14-20. Nuñez will also see action in November with the Bluewater Bay Pro Circuit Championships in Niceville, Fla., from Nov. 4-13 and the Pensacola Futures Championships in Pensacola, Fla., from Nov. 14-23.
TCU is coming off one of its most successful seasons in men's tennis history, as the team won the regular season and tournament Big 12 Championship. The Frogs finished a program-high No. 3 in the final Oracle/ITA rankings, while Alex Rybakov became the first player in program history to be named ITA Men's National Rookie of Year. Norrie earned his second singles All-America honors and became the first player in program history to advance to the singles Final Four at the NCAA Championships.
