FORT WORTH—Emanuel Brighiu and Christopher Price, seniors on the TCU men's tennis team, are included in the ITA's preseason release of its national rankings. The pair is listed No. 23 among the nation's doubles squads.
Brighiu and Price were ranked 46th in the final ITA doubles listing last spring after the duo advanced to the NCAA Doubles Championships. The players concluded their junior seasons with a 13-9 overall record after beginning playing together for the first time during the fall season. The pair went on a hot streak at the end of the year, winning nine straight matches through the Mountain West Conference tournament to help the Frogs win the league title and clinch the MWC's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. The stretch saw the tandem climb as high as No. 37 in the ITA doubles ratings.
Brighiu and Price both earned spots on the All-Mountain West Conference Doubles Team, while Brighiu added All-MWC honors for singles. The tandem ranked No. 6 in the Texas Regional at the end of the spring.
The two players are part of a veteran TCU men's tennis team poised for one of its most successful seasons in recent memory under first-year head coach Dave Roditi. Five of the top six singles players from last year's Mountain West Conference Tournament championship squad return, including four Frogs who have earned all-conference honors at least once in their careers. Last season's team concluded its season in the NCAA tournament for the 19th time in the last 20 years.
