Fielding/Haney Move On To Second Round Of Doubles Championships

ATHENS, Georgia (May 25, 2001) -- The TCU men's tennis team's 16th-ranked doubles pair of senior Trace Fielding and sophomore Jimmy Haney advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Doubles Championships being held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Ga.
The pair lost the first set 5-7 to Mississippi's James Shortall and Kristofer Stahlberg, ranked No. 13 in the nation, but rebounded to win the next two 7-5, 7-5, en route to the victory. Fielding and Haney are now 16-11 on the year and 3-1 against ranked opponents during the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships.
Fielding and Haney will now take on No. 5 Peter Luczak and David Mullins from Fresno State in the next round. Luczak and Mullins received a No. 5-8 seed for the doubles tournament and won their opening round match in straight sets 7-5, 6-2, over San Diego State's Oliver Maiberger and Adam Webster.
