Horned Frogs set for two-day meet at Texas A&M
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – TCU track and field travels to E.B. Cushing Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M, April 11-12 for the 44 Farms Team Invitational.
The meet features over 30 teams in the field, including Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, Houston, Illinois, Iowa State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas Tech and USC, among others.
A month into the outdoor season, the Horned Frog women are ranked No. 10 in the USTFCCCA National Track & Field Rating Index. Additionally, they boast five top 25 event squads, including the No. 2 ranked 100m dash, No. 4 javelin and No. 5 400m hurdles groups.
Individually, TCU's women have 10 top 25 marks nationally so far this outdoor season. Freshman sprinter Indya Mayberry owns the national lead in the 100m dash (10.91) and was a key member of the Frogs' 4x100m relay (42.87) that ranks No. 1 in the NCAA and No. 3 in the world this year. Hurdler Amelliah Birdow also owns a top 10 time in the country in the 400m hurdles, ranking No. 6 (56.17), and the TCU's 4x400m relay ranks No. 9 (3:30.87).
The men own four top 25 marks in the NCAA, led by freshman javelin thrower Preston Kuznof. At the TCU Alumni Invitational, the rookie made the most of his first collegiate throw, breaking the TCU school record and winning the event. He ranks eighth in the nation with a mark of 75.10m.
Last weekend, TCU competed just up the road at the Bill Schmidt Invite at UNT. The Frogs picked up nine event wins on the cold and rainy day of action. Distance runners Mohammed Kowa (1500m and 800m), Stone Burke (3000m steeplechase), Gabby Martin (5000m), Brayden Schick (5000m), Anastacia Gonzales (1500m) and Sasha Crawford (800m) represented TCU well on the track, while Yannik Knobloch (long jump) and Allea Krote (triple jump) secured wins in field events.
